Seasons | Bohyne

I’ve been thinking about seasons, cycles, and the passing of time quite a bit recently. In this year of slowing down, a new relationship with time has blossomed. I notice and cherish it more. I sense it passing in moments of silence and recuperation. I’ve learned to bask myself more in it and to give it space when things are simply not meant to be.

This weekend marks the end of Daylight Savings Time which coincidentally began around the time that the pandemic hit and the world seemingly came to a pause. The 31st also marks the Celtic new year. It’s almost as if a reset is on the horizon, bringing a new cycle to test our recent epiphanies.

Within the past year, I’d like to acknowledge that not all was a complete loss. Fashion’s effort to transition into seasonless and a shift of mindset towards a more intentional consumer - for whatever reason - is worth applauding. As Americans, we consume more per person than any other nation. So often it takes a crisis to call for change and well, that is absolutely what we need.

Collaborating with local brands in my corner of the world, I am happy to see this global consciousness pioneered by brands like Bohyne. When I had first learned of this ceremonial and lifestyle brand, I was not only impressed by their overall ethos but unique approach to bridal. By eliminating “occasion” from the bridal terminology, they offer sustainable pieces that inspire wear far beyond the big day.

Seasonless, timeless, forever. Having some permanence (if only in our wardrobes) is especially comforting during these times, don’t you think?

xx,

Elysia
