Strangers | Sister Epic Handbags

I walk down the hill. There’s a warm breeze on a dewy summer morning. Stopping to grab a pastry at the french patisserie, La Gourmandine, and listening to the new Taylor Swift album, I can’t help but feel that I have everything within reach. I’m exactly where I need to be.

It’s been 7 months since the pandemic hit. A lot has changed; a lot has not. We’ve been forced to sit with ourselves, look within and look around. It wasn’t long before that I was driving to Washington, PA three days a week and thinking to myself, “wouldn’t it be nice to walk more?” All of my favorite restaurants, businesses and boutiques are within walking distance from my home and there has never been more critical of a time to support local business. The opening of the newest Beauty Shoppe co-working space was also a godsend and has become a destination for socially distanced meetings or days that I simply need the visual stimulation.

I’m a firm believer that life has a way of taking you to where you need to be and instead of looking at this time as a halt to my routine, I’ve viewed it as a way to reset it. During this time I’ve enjoyed walking down the streets in my neighborhood, looking people in the eye and saying “good morning.” I’ve become part of the local ecosystem, seeing it for what it is and no longer feel like a stranger.

The truth is that I’ve never looked or cared so deeply.

xx,

Elysia
